‘Change
A Life Through Literacy’ is designed to increase public awareness
about low literacy. As one of the top critical social issues facing New
Jersey, messages highlight the need for funding and support to the many
programs that provide literacy services to citizens.
New Jersey Reads
has awarded nearly $225,000 to literacy nonprofits engaged in direct
literacy instruction since 2003. However, annual requests total more
than $1 million. By expanding exposure and knowledge about low
literacy, New Jersey Reads expects to inspire greater citizen and
corporate involvement and increase financial support to literacy
programs statewide.
